Service never stops

Updated: Feb 1, 2018

Tis' the season to give back! Link(Ed) board members along with WSU College of Education faculty and staff devoted their time to the Kansas Union Rescue Mission.

Around this time of the year people find themselves striving to give back to their community in some fashion. What better place that the Kansas Union Rescue Mission. The Union Rescue Mission has many different programs all aimed at changing the future for homeless, one life at a time.

The NewLeaf Book Mercantile Business allows the Union Rescue Mission to scan individual books and determine whether or not they should be available for resale or recycled.

Partnered with the WSU College of Education, Link(ED) members spent the day going through large boxes of old and new books helping determine whether or not these books were fit for online sale or recycle.

Give your time

The gift of time is an element of people's lives that sometimes can be pushed to the back of the priority line. Everyone can give their time; if that's scanning books at the Union Rescue Mission, or donating personal care items to the Shocker Support Locker.

There is no such thing as small service. "The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others." Every opportunity we have to serve is an opportunity to lose ourselves. Thank you to the Kansas Union Rescue Mission for allowing us to come and serve and be a part of something bigger than ourselves.
